MetroPCS saw its income drop to $45 million for the third quarter of 2008, compared to $53 million last year, despite its revenue growing 23% to $687 million.
The company had 249,000 new subscribers with churn of 4.8%. ARPU was $40.42, down $2.35 from last year.
Still, the company recently passed the 5 million customer mark, is expanding into Northeast markets and recently signed a roaming agreement with Leap Wireless, CEO Roger Linquist said.
Of the Leap deal, “This agreement covers all of our and Leap’s current and future markets, and which, when fully built, could ultimately cover the top 200 markets in the nation and would effectively be a 5th national network,” – one with no contracts and flat monthly service fees, he noted.
