Samsung today unveiled a significantly revamped 7-inch Galaxy Tab, appropriately dubbed the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. The new Android tablet features a dual-core processor and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 3G with 21 Mbps HSPA+ connectivity.

“Samsung pioneered the seven-inch tablet market with the launch of the Galaxy Tab, marking an innovation milestone in the mobile industry,’ said JK Shin, president and head of Samsung’s mobile division, in a statement. “Building on the success of the Galaxy Tab, we’re now delighted to introduce the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus reloaded with enhanced portability, productivity and a richer multimedia experience.”

With its 7-inch display, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus weighs in at just 345g and measures 9.96mm thin.

The Tab 7.0 Plus, which comes in 16GB and 32GB models, runs Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) overlaid with Samsung’s Touchwiz UI and features a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 3-megapixel rear-facing camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Samsung says the new tablet will be available starting in Indonesia and Austria in late October and gradually rolled out globally including Southeast and Southwest Asia, U.S., Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States, Latin America, Middle East, Africa, Japan and China.
