Samsung announced it has launched the first slider format DVB-H mobile TV phone. The P960 supports both European mobile TV technology standards, DVB-H and the new Open Mobile Alliance Mobile Broadcast Service Enabler Suite (OMA-BCAST).
Along with the dual-mobile TV technologies, the P960 offers optimized viewing with a large 2.6-inch QVGA TFT screen and Bang & Olufsen ICEPower technology for high-quality audio. Samsung promises battery life of up to five hours of TV watching time.
Features other than TV include a 3-megapixel camera with power LED, music player and FM radio.
Geesung Choi, president of Samsung’s Telecom Business said, in a statement, that the P960 is a milestone for mobile TV technology, as the launch of the device will signify the beginning of DVB-H phone era in Europe.
“Samsung has already achieved a stable No. 1 leader position in Korea as the mobile TV phone provider. There is no doubt Samsung will continue the success in Europe with P960,” Choi’s statement continued.
