Samsung may be preparing its high-end Omnia touchscreen phone for the U.S. market, despite previously stating that it’s only for Asian markets.
Samsung previously said that its Instinct phone, co-developed with Sprint Nextel, is its high-end device for U.S. customers who might otherwise buy an Apple iPhone.
Now the Omnia is apparently undergoing FCC tests for a 3G CDMA version, according to hardware news specialist phonearena.com.
However, U.S. sales of the Windows Media device are not likely until 2009, a source familiar with Samsung’s roadmap told Wireless Week.
