With the E200 Eco, Samsung marks its third wireless phone introduction this year that uses bioplastics, materials extracted from corn. In fact, the case of the device is made entirely out of the material.
The E200 features a 1.3 megapixel camera, video messaging capabilities and an MP3 player.
Although the device will be available in Europe next month, it doesn’t yet have a release date in the United States.
Earlier this year, Samsung introduced two other environmentally friendly devices – the W510 and the F268. Both were produced for the Asian market using techniques that eliminate harmful materials such as cadmium, lead and mercury.
A number of other wireless vendors also are going green, including Nokia, which launched a number of environmentally mindful devices earlier this year.
