Samsung is having a hard time pitching its Galaxy Tab 7.7 at the IFA electronics conference in Berlin after a judge awarded Apple an injunction that bans Samsung from selling or advertising the devices anywhere in Germany.
As a result of the injunction, Samsung was ordered to pull all of its Tab devices from the IFA show. The website FOSS Patents reported that earlier in the week, Samsung had the devices on display with red stickers that stated, “NOT FOR SALE IN GERMANY.”
James Chung, a spokesman for Samsung, told Bloomberg that the company “respects the court’s decision,” adding, however, that the company believes the move “severely limits consumer choice in Germany.”
The fracas is the result of an ongoing legal battle between Apple and Samsung. Apple contends that Samsung’s Galaxy line of smartphones and tablets copies the design and UI of Apple’s iPhone and iPad.
The Samsung Galaxy 10.1 has currently been banned under a similar injunction in 26 of 27 European Union member countries, and Samsung also has pushed back launch of the device in Australia until a similar injunction can be settled.
Shares of Samsung were down nearly 5 percent on news of the latest ruling.
