Apple will reportedly add a new, smaller version of the iPad to its “Pro” product lineup at its upcoming spring launch event, 9to5Mac reported.
According to the report, Apple plans to release a new 9.7-inch iPad tablet at its March 15 debut event. But rather than joining the iPad Air lineup, the device is now expected to launch as a smaller version of the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro that was unveiled in September.
The miniature iPad Pro will reportedly come with all the new features included in its larger sibling, including an upgraded A9X processor, RAM and display.
The new tablet is expected to be released along a new, 4-inch version of the iPhone, which will reportedly be called the “iPhone se.”
Rather than keeping consumers waiting, Apple is expected to begin selling the devices just days after the launch event this time around.
The accelerated sales schedule could be an attempt to boost first quarter figures after Apple recently forecast its revenue could fall over eight percent year-over-year in the January to March quarter. Sales figures are also expected to fall short of the 61 million iPhones sold during the same quarter last year.
