The Competitive Carriers Association today appointed Sprint CTO Stephen Bye to its board of directors.
Bye comes to CCA’s board with more than 20 years of telecom, cable and wireless service experience. He directs Sprint’s corporate and technology strategy, network architecture and global standards.
“I look forward to hearing Stephen’s remarks at our upcoming Global Expo, and look forward to our continued work with Sprint to ensure competitive carriers are able to grow and succeed in the industry,” CCA President and CEO Steven K. Berry said in a statement.
Bye’s appointment comes as Sprint announced that Steve Elfman, president of network operations, would be leaving the carrier. Elfman was previously announced as a member of CCA’s 2013/2014 board.
Along with Elfman’s departure, Sprint also confirmed that longtime network exec Bob Azzi would be retiring and that John Saw, former Clearwire CTO, would take over as Chief Network Officer for the carrier.
