Sprint Pushes Prepaid with New Boost Mobile Switcher Campaign

By Diana Goovaerts | May 15, 2017

Coming off a first quarter in which its prepaid figures shined, Sprint is pushing to promote the segment even more with a new Boost Mobile marketing campaign.

Dubbed “Project Switch,” the new campaign urges wireless customers to switch to Boost’s prepaid mobile service and save money on their monthly bill. The 30-second ad spot debuted Thursday in major markets across the country, including New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Miami. Boost is running a multi-line promotion offering four lines of unlimited service for $100 alongside the ad. That service includes video streamed at 480p resolution, music at up to 500 kbps, and gaming at up to 2 Mbps.

“We are excited to introduce a new campaign that is focused on simplicity and ease of switching to Boost,” Boost Mobile’s CMO Angela Rittgers commented. “For everyone who is tired of overpaying for their wireless plan, it is time to ‘Make the Switch.’ For only $25 per line customers get unlimited high-speed data on the fast and reliable Sprint Nationwide Network, which is an amazing value not available anywhere else.”

The campaign comes ahead of Sprint’s plans to open more than 1,000 Boost Mobile Next Generation stores by the end of this year and a relaunch later this year of the company’s other prepaid brand, Virgin Mobile.

In the most recent quarter, Sprint managed to turn its prepaid division around to substantial growth. The segment raked in some 180,000 net additions, compared to postpaid phone net additions of 42,000 in the same period.
