Sprint Says “Cheers” to Current Customers with Giveaway Campaigns

By Diana Goovaerts | December 7, 2015

Sprint announced Monday it is celebrating the holiday season with two giveaway campaigns aimed at its current customers.

“Our customers know we are working hard to bring them the best customer experience possible,” Sprint vice president of Base Management Jim Curran said. “With this week’s events we want them to know how much we appreciate them.”

Today through Friday, Sprint is giving gifts of movies, music and technology to existing customers with its “Cheers to You” promotion. Each day a new offer will be revealed and customers can visit the promotional page to register for their free gift, the company said. Gifts are only available each day as long as supplies last.

The carrier is also launching its first Holiday Hero campaign, which will allow customers to “nominate a deserving ‘hero’ in their lives for a chance to each receive an LG G4 phone and one year of free service,” Sprint said. Heroes can be nominated through a link on the Cheers to You webpage Tuesday, Dec. 8 through the end of the week. Only one entry can be submitted per person.

The campaigns come amid a fourth-quarter battle among carriers for customers, filled with holiday promotions and giveaways. T-Mobile in particular has taken aim at the competition with tailored offers targeting the customers of each of the other three major carriers in its Un-Carrier Unwrapped promotion series.

The campaign kicked off just after Thanksgiving when T-Mobile offered its own customers three months of unlimited high speed data and sought to lure Sprint customers with a $200 bill credit for every line they switched. The Sprint offer ended yesterday and was replaced by an iPhone bargain and half off accessories offer for AT&T customers who switch to T-Mobile. The offer for Verizon customers is expected to be announced later this week.

Like Sprint and T-Mobile, Verizon has also shown some customer appreciation this holiday season with its “Thanksgetting” giveaway of free data, music, movies, TV and app downloads on Nov. 25.
