Both Sprint and T-Mobile today announced that they’ll be the first of the major U.S. carriers to get the Samsung Galaxy S4.
T-Mobile’s version of the S4 will be available online and in stores beginning April 24 for $149.99 down and no contract, but with monthly device payments “for qualifying customers with the new Simple Choice Plan.” The strategy is part of T-Mobile uncarrier approach, which eliminates contracts and device subsidies in favor of financing the device for the customer.
Meanwhile, Sprint Nextel will offer the phone for $250 up front, with a $100 credit for any customer who switches from another carrier. Sprint’s verison will go on sale beginning Saturday, April 27.
AT&T customers can now pre-order the device for $199, with shipments starting April 30. As of this writing, Verizon Wireless has said it will carry the phone but it had not yet confirmed pricing or availablity for the S4.
Regional carriers C Spire Wireless and U.S. Cellular also said they will be getting the S4 this summer.
The GalaxyS4, successor to the Galasxy S III, is powered by Android 4.2.2, (Jelly Bean) and features a 5-inch full HD Super AMOLED touchscreen, 1.9GHz quad-core processor and LTE connectivity.
