Sprint Unveils Exclusive Galaxy S5 ‘Sport’

By Andrew Berg | June 23, 2014

Sprint Monday announced that it is teaming up with Samsung for an exclusive version of the Samsung Galaxy S5. The new ‘Sport’ version of the S5 is part of a broader partnership with Under Armour and MapMyFitness to promote health tracking and fitness.

Available July 25, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport is a Spark-enabled smartphone. The phone features S Health, an integrated mobile health platform to access health info, map out workouts, and help users make better eating choices. It also monitors heart rate before and after activity with a built-in heart-rate monitor. Samsung’s Activity Zone app comes preloaded on the phone.

For a limited time customers who purchase the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport will get $50 off a Samsung Gear Fit smartwatch.

Samsung says the S5 Sport will serve as the launch pad for Sprint Fit Live, a mobile health and fitness package that will allow users access to their favorite fitness applications and activities, relevant health information, as well as integration with Spotify playlists.

Sprint Fit Live also will be available on all new Sprint Android-powered smartphones in 2014.

Customers can get the Galaxy S5 Sport through Sprint Easy Pay at with $0 down (plus tax) and 24 monthly payments of $27.09. The Galaxy S 5 Sport will be available in Electric Blue and Cherry Red color options.
