While Verizon Wireless is busy preparing for the Motorola Droid release later this week, Sprint is getting into the holiday action with a bevy of devices.
After unveiling its first netbook, the Dell Inspiron Mini 10, the carrier yesterday rolled out its line-up of holiday phone offerings, including the Android-based HTC Hero for $179.99 after rebates.
The carrier also is highlighting the Palm Pre, which is priced at $149.99 after rebates with a two-year agreement. (In its most recent fiscal quarter, Palm reported shipping 823,000 smartphones.) The Palm Pixi goes on sale at Sprint on Nov. 15 for $99.99 after rebates.
Also in Sprint’s line-up is the BlackBerry Tour for $149.99 after rebates. The Samsung Moment sells for $179.99 after rebates, also with a two-year service agreement. The Samsung Reclaim is an eco-friendly phone, made of 80 percent recyclable material and sells for $49.99 after rebates.
Also in Sprint’s list of highlights are the LG Rumor2 for $29.99 after rebates and the SCP-2700 by Sanyo, which is free after rebates. Sprint is also touting its Everything Data plans featuring any mobile minutes without calling circles that start at $69.99 a month.
Meanwhile, Alltel Wireless today announced the availability of the Samsung DoubleTake, which goes on sale Thursday in Alltel stores and online. The phone is priced at $39.99 after rebate with a one-year contract on a qualifying rate plan.
Alltel says it is the only major wireless carrier to offer two-year postpaid handset pricing to those signing a one-year contract. But that option is available only to customers in the 91 cellular market areas (CMAs) that Verizon Wireless is required to divest, which will continue to operate as Alltel Wireless until the sale agreements with AT&T and Atlantic Tele-Network are approved by the Department of Justice and FCC.
Last month, T-Mobile USA unveiled its upcoming holiday lineup of 3G-enabled devices. Its list includes the T-Mobile myTouch 3G, the Samsung Behold II, the Motorola Cliq with MotoBlur, the T-Mobile Tap and the Nokia 3711.
