Sprint today said that it will be the first carrier in the U.S. to roll out Android 2.2 (Froyo) to its customers. According to a press release, those customers using an HTC Evo 4G will get the update beginning Tuesday, Aug. 3.
Android 2.2 offers feature enhancements including Bluetooth voice dialing, built-in Flash, the ability to store apps to the memory card and more.
Sprint said it will begin sending update notifications to users in waves beginning Aug. 3, which should make the upgrade available to all HTC Evo 4G users by the middle of August.
The notification will let the users know that the update is available and it will provide instructions on how to complete the over-the-air (OTA) download process.
For those who don’t want to wait, there will also be a user initiated option to download the upgrade. Customers can access the software update through their HTC Evo 4G under the Settings Menu on their devices.
