Mobile roaming services provider Starhome alleges AT&T, T-Mobile USA and Roamware are violating its patents on international roaming in a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for Delaware.

Starhome is seeking unspecified damages and a judgment enjoining further infringement. The patents in question cover the technology powering Starhome’s call assistant and short code solutions, among other services.

“Over the course of the last 10 years, Starhome has spent a considerable amount of time and resources in developing the Home Short Code and the Intelligent Call Assistant solutions, both of which are included in our patent-protected portfolio,” said company CEO Eitan Achlow in a statement. “Starhome invests heavily in intellectual property and realizes the importance of protecting these innovations and technology.”

T-Mobile declined to comment on the suit and neither AT&T nor Roamware replied to requests for comment by press time.

Starhome calls its short code solution “one of the first and most fundamental roaming solutions of the VHE (virtual home environment) concept.” The technology converts unrecognized home short codes into valid phone numbers. Starhome supplements its short code technology with an international dialing solution that automatically corrects or completes misdialed numbers.
