Proximic announced the general availability of Proximic Agents, a mobile application that enables consumers to search for information on Apple’s iPhone.
Proximic executives say the application represents a breakthrough in language-independent search. The company’s goal is to meet one of the most pressing needs for mobile users, and that is finding information quickly, said Proximic CEO Philipp Pieper.
Apple has done a great job of making the Safari platform surf-able; what’s difficult is entering complex queries. With a mechanism like Proximic’s, it becomes very simple, he said.
It’s possible that one day the technology could be used to search for products in a user’s local area. For example, if you’re looking for a Honda Civic, the system can let you know if there’s one in your neighborhood that’s for sale.
