T-Mobile plans to cut its data roaming charges across Europe by as much as 80%. Starting July 1, roaming rates will drop from $14.78 to $2.96 per megabyte on wireless devices and laptop data cards.
The July 1 deadline was proposed by European Commissioner Viviane Reding, who threatened to impose regulations that would limit data roaming rates if carriers didn’t voluntarily cut rates by the deadline.
T-Mobile said it also plans to cut text message roaming rates from 79 cents to 49 cents per message.
