T-Mobile USA has unveiled the first HSPA+ laptop stick for the U.S. market. The webConnect Rocket, which will be available beginning this Sunday, is compatible with the carrier’s recently launched HSPA+ network in Philadelphia, its HSPA 7.2 network and Wi-Fi.
T-Mobile is not offering an unlimited data plan with the device. Instead, it is offering a set of tiered pricing plans that come with unlimited access to its nationwide hot spot network.
The dongle comes with a two-year contract and the company’s new Even More webConnect data plan, which offers customers 5GB per month for $59.99 or 200 MB per month for $29.99, with overage charges of 20 cents per megabyte. The dongle comes with data usage monitoring software to help customers keep track of their data consumption.
T-Mobile also announced tiered data plans for its no-contract customers. The company’s Even More Plus webConnect data plan offers 5GB per month for $49.99 or 200 MB per month for $19.99, with overage charges of 20 cents per megabyte.
T-Mobile also announced that it opened its location API to developers through WaveMarket’s Veriplace Cloud Location Platform Initiative, which has already been joined by AT&T and Sprint. Applications and services built on Veriplace can locate devices across multiple carriers with a single API, simplifying various location technologies, networks and devices.
