T-Mobile over the weekend unveiled Score, a new device discount program that will run subscribers $5 per month.
T-Mobile customers who opt for Score will be eligible for a free entry-level smartphone—like the Alcatel ONETOUCH Evolve 2—after six months and discounts off top-tier devices after 12 months.
For example, T-Mobile says customers would be able to get $150 off the cost of a new Samsung Galaxy S5. Of course, a year from now, the Galaxy S7 will likely be just around the corner.
If T-Mobile subscribers take the six-month device discount, their program tenure resets, meaning it would take an additional 12 months after that for them to be eligible for a discount on a top-tier device.
Starting now, Score is available to postpaid and prepaid T-Mobile customers regardless if they are paying installment pricing on their device, paid for a device upfront, or brought their own device.
T-Mobile’s new offer allowing subscribers to pay for device discounts comes after the carrier last week announced Smartphone Equality, a new program that offers the lowest possible device pricing to loyal subscribers without submitting them to credit checks.
