After kicking off its Un-carrier Unwrapped holiday promotion with unlimited high speed data for existing customers, T-Mobile announced Wednesday it will offer Sprint customers $200 for every line they switch to T-Mobile.
According to T-Mobile, starting tomorrow Sprint customers will receive a $200 bill credit for every line they switch, no trade-in required. T-Mobile said the offer applies to both individual and businesses.
Sprint customers also qualify for T-Mobile’s Carrier Freedom promotion, which includes up to $650 per line to cover early termination fees or any balance owed when they switch. A trade-in is required for Carrier Freedom.
“I cannot think of any wireless customers in more desperate need of some holiday cheer than those Sprint customers still hanging on over there,” said John Legere, president and CEO of T-Mobile. “We know Sprint’s customers love T-Mobile when they switch, so this holiday season, we’re taking away every barrier and cost to coming over to the Un-carrier and America’s fastest 4G LTE network. Happy holidays!”
In announcing Un-carrier Unwrapped earlier this week, T-Mobile said the promotion will include giveaways targeting customers of the other three major U.S. wireless carriers, focusing on one carrier per week. With the Sprint offer out in the open, it only remains to be seen what the Un-carrier will offer Verizon and AT&T customers.
“We know that Verizon, AT&T and Sprint customers need some holiday cheer, too – so we’ve got presents coming for them,” Legere said after launching Un-carrier Unwrapped’s deal for T-Mobile customers. “Just wait!”
Though the move is meant to excite Sprint customers, T-Mobile’s investors weren’t thrilled with the news. Un-carrier stocks were down 2.4 percent as of 10:30 a.m.
