T-Mobile USA unveiled two new price plans, the “Even More” and “Even More Plus” plans, but they’re not as aggressively priced as some onlookers had expected.
Both of the new plans include free nationwide T-Mobile-to-T-Mobile calling and free nights and weekends. The Even More plan involves a two-year contract and unlimited plans from $59.99. The Even More Plus plan involves no annual contract, with an unlimited voice-only plan for $49.99. For $79.99 a month, customers can get unlimited talking, texting and Web access.
T-Mobile, long known as the discount price leader among the four national carriers, had been expected to announce a $50 monthly unlimited voice and data plan, but that didn’t happen.
In a third-quarter conference call with analysts yesterday, Verizon Communications executives more or less dismissed the new T-Mobile plans, saying they looked to be on the conservative side of rumors and Verizon didn’t see a need to respond. As for a CDMA version of the iPhone coming from Apple, Verizon Communications Chairman and CEO Ivan Seidenberg said that’s in Apple’s court.
