Following AT&T’s announcement of its NumberSync service – which allows subscribers to use one phone number across their connected devices – T-Mobile and Sprint have said they have plans to offer a similar option.
According to a report from Re/code, T-Mobile operating chief said the Un-carrier is working on a feature akin to NumberSync that will blow AT&T out of the water. Sprint said it, too, has a similar innovation in the works.
Verizon has not yet come out with a statement on the matter.
Unveiled Wednesday but yet to be launched, AT&T’s NumberSync will allow customers to connect multiple devices (but not another cell phone) to a single cell phone number so all calls or texts from those devices are sent with recognizable digits. The service, in conjunction with popular shared data plans, will help streamline connectivity and may prove an incentive for customers to carry multiple connected devices.
