T-Mobile on Wednesday announced a three-year agreement with Major League Baseball (MLB) that will see the Un-carrier offer its customers a free year sports subscription.
According to T-Mobile, Simply Choice customers on qualifying plans will be able to sign up for a free year of MLB.TV Premium between April 3 and April 10. The subscription will include every out-of-market regular season MLB game, T-Mobile said, as well as a free subscription to the sports app At Bat Premium.
The service will be covered by Binge On, T-Mobile said.
The free MLB.TV Premium subscription will expire on February 28, 2017, T-Mobile said.
Under its deal with the MLB, T-Mobile will become the title sponsor of the MLB’s Home Run Derby during All-Star Week and a new Junior Home Run Derby for youth.
T-Mobile’s move to add sports content to its lineup follows similar deals from Verizon. Looking to boost its go90 mobile video content library, Verizon has recently signed deals with the NBA for live out-of-market games and the NFL for live streaming of local Sunday afternoon NFL games, Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, and Monday Night Football games.
