T-Mobile USA today announced the next iteration of its myTouch devices, with the myTouch 4G Slide, an HSPA+ Android smartphone that will be available in July.
The myTouch 4G Slide seeks to differentiate with a new high-end camera. T-Mobile boasts that the 4G Slide features zero shutter lag, backside illuminated sensor and additional premium digital camera features.
“Knowing that the best camera is the one you’ve got with you, we set out to create a new best-in-class smartphone that allows our customers to leave their cameras at home,” said Andrew Sherrard, senior vice president of marketing for T-Mobile, in a statement.
Specifically, the 4G Slide’s camera includes improved low-light performance, with a backside illuminated sensor and a wide aperture lens. It also includes things like SweepShot, which allows users to capture panoramic shots by sweeping across an entire scene in a single motion. There’s also a burst mode for capturing multiple photos in a quick burst.
The 4G Slide comes running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with HTC Sense 3.0, and features a 3.7-inch touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera, 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, slide-out qwerty keyboard, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Concurrent with the carrier’s news about the myTouch 4G Slide, T-Mobile has also expanded its HSPA+ network to seven new cities, including Barnstable, Mass.; Chico, Calif.; Lancaster, Penn.; Ogden, Utah; Redding, Calif.; Vineland, N.J., and Winchester, Va.
The phone will be offered in black and khaki and will be available exclusively from T-Mobile in July at retail stores and online.
