Yahoo! has partnered with T-Mobile, to provide targeted advertising on T-Mobile’s UK mobile Internet service Web’n’walk. In its continued effort to compete against rival Google, Yahoo! has been aggressively targeting the mobile space; this deal with T-Mobile adds to its partners in UK. Yahoo! has a similar mobile advertising deal with Vodafone.
As part of its mobile strategy, Yahoo! has said it believes it can reach hundreds of millions of users by offering Internet services that work on existing phones. Under the terms of its deal with T-Mobile, the two groups will work together to enable advertisers to send targeted ads to consumers who can then interact and respond directly.
“Banner advertising through the Internet on your mobile creates many opportunities for potential advertisers to adopt innovative marketing campaigns,” said Phil Chapman, director of marketing at T-Mobile, in a statement. “We regard Yahoo! as a leader in display advertising, and with its deep understanding of the mobile space and the potential that mobile advertising can offer clients, we’re glad they are on board as our partners.”
T-Mobile’s Web’n’walk mobile Internet service originally launched in the UK in 2005.
