T-Mobile is once again looking to reward its customers with free pizza as part of its T-Mobile Tuesdays campaign after initial efforts to provide free pies overwhelmed the carrier’s original partner, Domino’s.
The Un-carrier on Friday said it is now teaming up with Papa John’s to give customers free pizza once a week starting Tuesday, Feb. 14. The partnership with Papa John’s is slated to last for four weeks.
Though that might seem a short amount of time, four weeks is twice the amount of time T-Mobile’s original pizza partner, Domino’s, lasted. Back in June, Domino’s pulled out of the T-Mobile Tuesdays program after just two weeks following an overwhelming response from T-Mobile customers that boosted volume to three to four times the regular daily amount. Domino’s wasn’t able to keep up.
“Basically, @tmobile customers love @dominos pizza so much, you broke them!” Legere wrote on Twitter at the time.
This time around, though, T-Mobile said it is changing the rules to help spread out demand for the free pies over the course of the week. The Un-carrier said customers will be able to claim their free pizza in the app on the relevant Tuesdays, but will have the entire week to order online and redeem their code for a free pie.
This time around customers will also receive only one free pie over the course of the promotion. The Un-carrier said customers will be randomly selected only one of the four Tuesdays for the prize and will need to check the app each week to see if it’s their turn. If don’t check the app and miss their chance, they’ll be out of luck.
