Telit Acquires ILS Technology and Expands into M2M Cloud Services

By Staff Author | September 10, 2013

Acquisition of ILS Technology LLC to compliment Telit’s strength in mobile network-side services with Cloud-based solutions and further accelerate M2M application development

RALEIGH, N.C. and LONDON – September 5, 2013 – Telit Wireless Solutions has announced that it acquired ILS Technology LLC (“ILST”). Boca-Raton, FL-based ILST is a leading provider of ready-to-use, off-the-shelf cloud platform services connecting enterprise IT systems to M2M-enabled devices as well as machines for businesses-critical use. ILST solutions are easy to deploy and can integrate M2M devices with minimal application development effort. Critical to its customers’ businesses, ILST services leverage comprehensive technology and processes to provide security and full protection of company and customer data as well as regulatory compliance.

With the acquisition, ILST management, engineering and support staff will be integrated into the m2mAir services unit, expanding Telit’s successful “ONE STOP. ONE SHOP.” market approach with solutions to boast a broader offering in value added services. Telit created the m2mAIR business unit in 2012 in order to centralize the company’s value added services including connectivity. Starting with a strong focus on the mobile network side offering, the company leveraged its relationship with key partners in Europe and Latin America. In North America it was able to enhance offerings with top-tier operator relationships inherited with the acquisition of Illinois-based CrossBridge Solutions. With ILST, Telit expands the reach of m2mAIR much deeper into Internet-side services where M2M adopters have been seeking better, more integrated solutions, particularly for on-boarding M2M assets to Cloud enabled IT infrastructures in low entry-cost, PaaS service models.

ILST’s two well recognized product lines, secureWISE and deviceWISE will remain as solutions. The two lines which target customers in different business environments are currently the responsibility of distinct areas of the company and are to remain organized as such post integration of the company into m2mAIR moves forward. secureWISE is a well-established product delivering secure data exchange for large data volumes. It enjoys a customer base comprised of leaders in demanding industries including tool manufacturers for semiconductor fabrication facilities (FAB), automotive, data centers, and industrial automation. deviceWISE are products rich in potential for M2M adopters critically concerned with security, scalability and integration with modern IT infrastructures. The collective and complementary expertise Telit has amassed with its acquisitions for m2mAIR enables the rapid evolution of deviceWISE to a highly adept PaaS/SaaS-based Application Enablement Platform (AEP).

“The ILST acquisition provides Telit with access to additional value added services and customers, providing Telit with an even broader footprint in the M2M value chain,” said Oozi Cats, Chief Executive at Telit Wireless Solutions. “It opens up new opportunities to expand our service offerings to small & medium M2M customers worldwide, widening our market advantage. We see tremendous synergies between our hardware and connectivity offerings and the portfolio from ILST; and welcome the opportunity that this acquisition provides us to further strengthen and solidify our presence in the M2M market. “

“We are excited about the prospect of working with the Telit team to continue providing premier services to our customers and to expand our sales and customer base,” said Fred Yentz, President and CEO of ILST who stays at the helm under Telit ownership. “We look forward to continued growth and globalization of ILST under Telit leadership.”

With over a decade of exclusive focus on M2M, reducing technical risk and shortening time to market for OEMs and integrators, Telit is the industry’s ONE STOP. ONE SHOP. We leverage M2M’s broadest portfolio in cellular, short range and positioning technologies paired with m2mAIR services covering application enablement as well as mobile network and internet/cloud sides of connectivity. Telit products and services are delivered with global support and logistics exceeding exacting requirements from customers large and small. Now innovate!
