One of Verizon Wireless’ three LTE-capable smartphones, the HTC Thunderbolt, was hit with an OTA update over the weekend that will likely have some users cheering while simultaneously pouting.

The Thunderbolt has had some widespread issues with random reboots. Verizon promises the latest firmware update should fix the problem.

However, along with smoothing out some of the Thunderbolt’s rough edges, users who download the latest update will also be losing their free tethering capabilities, which Verizon had said when the phone launched would be complementary for a limited time only.

Other improvements that are part of the update include improved data connectivity, better Bluetooth discovery mode and a desktop cradle app, which is now available, showing a clock in landscape mode.

The HTC Thunderbolt is currently available for $249.99 with a two-year contract.
