TIA Voices Support for Next Generation Text-to-911 Applications

By Staff Author | October 20, 2014

Arlington, VA – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) submitted comments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in response to its request for comments on the continued evolution of text-to-911 applications, including the delivery of location information and support for text-to-911 when roaming.

TIA strongly supports the FCC’s efforts to comprehensively improve emergency communications and believes that the development of a next generation 911 IP-based network will greatly improve public safety. In its comment, TIA also stated that it “cautions against regarding the standards development process as a mechanism through which creation of otherwise nonexistent technology functionality can be mandated.”
