Most small companies cherish free press, yet the recent spate of stories involving Twitter becoming the terrorists’ newest killer app may not be what this micro-blogging company bargained for.

Twitter, which markets itself as a service for friends, family and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to a simple question of “What are you doing?” may also be help terrorists stay connected as well.

According to ABC News, a recent Army presentation focuses on newer applications for mobile phones such as digital maps, GPS locators, photo swappers and Twitter mash-ups of it all.  The report, “Potential for Terrorist Use of Twitter,” raises concerns over the use of the service. The report states that Twitter has become a tool for many human rights groups, communists, socialists, etc.

However, it goes on to suggest that because they are able to stay in constant communication with each other, it also states that terrorists could potentially use Twitter in the United States as a tool to conduct operations of destruction.
