U.S. Carriers Roll Out Pricing Details for Samsung Galaxy S5

By Staff Author | March 21, 2014

Whether the Samsung Galaxy S5 shapes up to be the blockbuster its predecessor was remains to be seen. But carriers have already begun pre-orders and special promotions for the 5.1-(Image: AP)inch smartphone (due April 11) and the trio of wearables Samsung is sending out alongside it.

AT&T has begun taking preorders for the S5. Those orders will begin shipping in early April. AT&T says it will sell the device for $199.99 with a two-year agreement. Full retail price for the device with no commitment is $649.99. Additionally, AT&T is now taking orders for the Samsung Gear 2 ($299), Samsung Gear 2 Neo ($199) and Samsung Gear Fit ($199). The carrier said that customers purchasing the new Galaxy S 5 will get $50 off the purchase of a Gear 2 or Gear 2 Neo.

Verizon has yet to release details on its plans for the S5. The carrier does have a page on its website, where customers can sign up with their email to recieve updates on the status of the device.

Sprint is pushing the Galaxy S5 for its Framily plans and Easy Pay options, pricing it at zero down with 24 monthly payments of $ 27.09. For a limited time, the carrier is offering a 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 free with activation on a data plan with a two-year service agreement. Those tablet data add-on plans starts at $10 per month. Sprint will also be selling the Gear Fit for $200, Gear 2 Neo for $200 and Gear 2 for $300.

T-Mobile will also go zero down on the Galaxy S5 but will allow subscribers to pre-order zero down starting March 24. For T-Mobile customers who pre-order before March 31, the carrier is promising a “special, introductory price” and no “waiting in line” when the device launches on April 11. T-Mobile is also lumping in a Tab 3 deal, striking $120 off the price to go along with 200MB of free monthly data for the life of the device.

U.S. Cellular is starting pre-order March 21 for the Galaxy S5 and pricing it at $200 on-contract. The carrier is offering a $50 Google Play credit to customers who pre-order the device online.
