Usablenet announced another deal this week. This time, it’s with Tickets.com for the launch of ProVenueMobile, a mobile version of the Website.
According to Tickets.com, the site is the first in its industry to offer customers the ability to complete a ticket transaction from a mobile phone without having to “click to call” and the first to offer a service that is compatible with all makes and models of Internet-enabled mobile phones.
Basically, Usablenet provides the platform to extend features of the desktop Website to the mobile phone. For example, Tickets.com offers the ability to buy tickets and have them e-mailed to the buyer, or it will ship tickets, both of which they can now do via mobile. Tickets.com also allows consumers to buy tickets and receive digital versions on their phone, which some venues are equipped to accept.
Usablenet works with about 80 other companies to make their Websites ready for mobile devices, according to Jason Taylor, vice president of mobile products. It can extend any features on the Website to mobile phones, and it supports handhelds worldwide, which is important especially for some services, like airlines.
In a deal with Sears announced last week, Sears customers have the ability to get text messages when their merchandise is ready to get picked up.
