Verizon Announces iPad Availability

By Andrew Berg | October 28, 2010

Verizon Wireless announced availability of Apple’s iPad. Verizon Wireless will offer three bundles, all featuring an iPad Wi-Fi model and a Verizon MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot,.

Customers can choose from a 16GB iPad with Wi-Fi and a MiFi 2200 ($629.99), a 32GB iPad with Wi-Fi and MiFi ($729.99) or a 64GB iPad with Wi-Fi and MiFi for $829.99.

The carrier is offering a monthly access plan to customers who purchase an iPad with a MiFi beginning at 1 GB of data per month for $20. In addition, Verizon Wireless will also offer all three iPad Wi-Fi models on a stand-alone basis.

Because the iPad was built with a 3G radio that only supports GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless users will need the MiFi to connect to the carrier’s CDMA network.

iPad customers can use the Verizon MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot to connect to  Verizon Wireless’ 3G network. The MiFi 2200 is small enough to fit in a pocket and allows customers to create a personal Wi-Fi cloud capable of sharing connectivity with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices.
