Sales of the Palm Pre and the Pixi don’t have the best track record, and Verizon Wireless is already giving away the Palm Pixi Plus for free with the purchase of a Palm Pre Plus or a Palm Pixi Plus.
The offer, which lasts through Feb. 14, is part of Verizon’s launch of the device on Monday. The carrier has priced the Palm Pre Plus at $150 and the Pixi Plus at $100, each after a $100 mail-in rebate and new two-year customer agreement.
Sprint was the first U.S. operator to offer the Palm Pre, which didn’t live up to the hype surrounding its early June 2009 launch. Though Palm refused to break out exact sales figures of the device, the company shipped a total of 823,000 units in its first quarter. That figure, which includes sales of legacy devices, slipped to just 783,000 devices in Palm’s most recent quarter.
