Verizon Wireless announced availability of the Motorola Citrus, a new entry-level Android smartphone with a bent towards the eco-conscious. The Citrus will be available in stores tomorrow for $49.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.
The Citrus features a housing made from 25 percent post-consumer recycled plastic and is certified CarbonFree through an alliance with Carbonfund.org. According to a press release, the device is also PVC and BFR free.
The Citrus, which is powered by Android 2.1, features a 3-megapixel camera, 3-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and full HTML Web browser. The device also has a trackpad on the back for navigation.
Motorola Citrus customers will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide plan, beginning at $39.99 monthly access, and a Data Package, beginning at $15 monthly access for 150 MB.
