Verizon announced Thursday it will give 2GB of bonus data each month to new and existing customers who upgrade or add a new phone on carrier’s XL or XXL plans.
The bonus data can be shared with all devices on the account, including tablets and other connected devices. Verizon said customers can keep the extra data indefinitely as long as they remain on the XL or XXL Plan and keep the line active on a phone.
Customers can add up to 10 lines per account, Verizon said, and can combine the bonus data with other promotional offers. The carrier is also offering $300 to new or existing customers who trade in their device and add a new smartphone line.
Verizon’s data promotion, which runs through Jan. 6, comes amid a fierce competition among U.S. carriers for consumer holiday spending.
In particular, T-Mobile has announced that over the next several weeks it will target each of its competitors’ customers with incentives to change their wireless service.
Last week, the operator began its Un-carrier Unwrapped promotion by offering Sprint customers $200 for every line they switch to T-Mobile. On Thursday, T-Mobile unveiled an offer of half off all accessories and a 128GB iPhone for the price of the 16 GB version for AT&T customers who make the leap to the Un-carrier. The offer targeting Verizon customers will likely be announced next week.
