Verizon is turning Thanksgiving into Thanksgetting this year.
Just one day after Sprint finished counting down to its offer of 50 percent off the bills of customers who switch from Verizon, T-Mobile or AT&T, Verizon began a countdown of its own to a massive giveaway.
The giveaway – which Verizon has dubbed Thanksgetting – will begin the day before Thanksgiving and include free data, app trials and gift cards.
According to the landing page, which features a countdown to November 25, Verizon customers will be able to get 1GB of free data added to a qualifying plan; a free $5 iTunes Gift; free eBooks, music, movies, TV and app downloads through Amazon; a free 30-day trial of Pandora’s ad-free music streaming service, Pandora One; $20 off a Lyft ride; free airport Wi-Fi from Boingo; and a free 30-minute Wi-Fi session on select airlines through GoGo.
The iTunes offer will end at 11:59 p.m. ET on Nov. 25 or when 74,042 participants register, according to the offer details. The Lyft ride credit code will be available to 2,500 existing users and 2,500 new users, and must be redeemed within 30 days.
Verizon did not immediately return a request for comment about the Thanksgetting promotion.
The Thanksgetting offer marks the second year in a row that Verizon has hosted a giveaway around the Thanksgiving holiday. Similar to this year’s offerings, 2014’s “Connection Day” giveaway featured products from Amazon, iTunes, Boingo, Conde Nast, Gogo, JetBlue and Pandora.
