Verizon on Tuesday revived its offer of 2GB of free data every month for life for new and existing customers who upgrade or activate a new phone on the carrier’s X-Large or higher plans.
According to Verizon, the offer applies to each new smartphone upgraded and is shareable across all devices on the same account, including tablets and connected devices. Up to 10 lines can be added per account, Verizon said.
The carrier said the extra data will remain on the account as long as the user’s smartphone remains active on an X-Large or higher Verizon plan.
Verizon said the extra 2GB of data is enough to upload or download 600 photos, make 150 high bandwidth video calls, stream 10 HD 30-minute television shows or surf the web for 89 hours.
In making the announcement, Verizon said those who switch will still be eligible to receive up to $650 to cover Early Termination Fees and Equipment Installment Plans.
The news comes on the heels of an announcement early Tuesday from AT&T that the carrier is now also offering $650 in switcher credits.
AT&T is offering its switch incentive alongside a buy-one-get-one smartphone offer and a its unlimited data plan offering for new and existing AT&T customers with DirecTV or U-Verse TV service.
