Verizon, T-Mobile Get Galaxy S Variants

By Andrew Berg | June 28, 2010

In its quest to double its market share by year-end, Samsung today announced that it will soon launch variants of its Galaxy S smartphone with Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA. According to press releases, Verizon Wireless will get the Samsung Fascinate and T-Mobile will get the Samsung Vibrant.

While Verizon Wireless chose to hold off on specific plans for launch date and pricing, T-Mobile says the Vibrant will be available July 21 for $199.99 with a two-year contract. T-Mobile also said that the new phone will come pre-loaded with the movie Avatar.

The Galaxy S phones feature similar hardware, but many expect Samsung to expand on the line in the near future. The Vibrant, Fascinate and the Captivate from AT&T, another Galaxy S revision, all feauture 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreens, Android 2.1 and Samsung’s 1GHz Hummingbird processor.

Samsung today also released a variant of the Galaxy S for Sprint, and that phone, the Samsung Epic 4G, is WiMAX-capable.
