Verizon Wireless is testing new plans that offer unlimited texts, data and mobile-to-mobile calling starting at $69.99 per month.
The promotional plans are being offered to existing, long-term customers and are “mobile number specific,” said a Verizon Wireless sales representative. The plans require customers to renew their contracts for one year and are not currently being offered to new customers.
The $69.99 plans come with 450 voice minutes and unlimited texts, mobile-to-mobile calls and data. The $139.99 family plans cover two lines and come with 1,400 minutes and unlimited texts, mobile-to-mobile calling and data. Each additional line costs $19.99 per month.
Verizon Wireless has been experimenting with new service plans. The carrier has expanded trials of its unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling plans in several southern states and launched the plans in areas of Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas on Nov. 4.
The carrier added a tiered data plan to its unlimited data offerings in late October, as well as a slate of data plans tailored to tablets, mobile hot spots and laptops. The plans range from a $20 per month, 1GB plan targeted at the iPad to an $80, 10 GB plan that supports data consumption on the iPad, mobile Wi-Fi hot spot and laptops.
