Verizon Wireless has certified its first device under its Open Development Initiative – SupplyNet’s wireless telemetry device, Prophet.
SupplyNet announced last week that both the modem and the hosted service, TankLink, have been certified for use on Verizon Wireless’s network. According to the company, its M2M system allows bulk material suppliers “to securely monitor inventories at customer locations and receive alerts when specific inventory levels are reached.”
Bernie Crump, vice president of SupplyNet, said in a statement: “We have a long history of deploying devices on cellular networks, and this new offering is a competitive advantage for SupplyNet and our customers. After deploying tens of thousands of cellular devices, we know that coverage and reliability are critical to success. Our devices operating over the Verizon Wireless network get our customers where they want to be.”
