Verizon Wireless Rolls Out New Ad Campaign

By Andrew Berg | June 29, 2010

Verizon Wireless today rolled out a new advertising and branding campaign called “Rule the Air.” The new campaign highlight’s the company’s network in combination with new smartphones like the recently launched Droid X from Motorola.

Rule the Air comes with a revamp of Verizon’s website that features an expose of Flash 10.1-based video and information about the carrier’s smarpthone portfolio and network. One video shows a woman walking through New York City with a Droid X as the urban landscape around her transforms into cell towers. A female voice over proclaims: “Signal: Airborn, beautiful and strong. There to ensure the most powerful transmitter is you. Rule the air.”

While Verizon hasn’t issued an official press release for the campaign, the Rule the Air portion of the carrier’s website allows visitors to create their own “signal” or online profile, by downloading a picture and ranking how much they use certain features on their phones. Verizon will then contact them, presumably with a phone and plan that fits their needs.
