Update: Virgin Mobile originally intended to offer the service for purchase on Aug. 25 but had to push the release date out for unspecified reasons. The company expects to have the offer available by Thursday, Aug. 26.
Virgin Mobile USA has leaked information about a new, $40 unlimited data plan on its Facebook page.
A Virgin Mobile spokeswoman confirmed that the carrier would be launching the new plan on Wednesday and said that the post on its Facebook page went live earlier than intended.
According to the post, the new plan allows customers to pay $40 for 30 days worth of unlimited data. Previously, Virgin Mobile’s $40 Broadband2Go plan had a data limit of 1GB for 30 days.
The post also indicates Virgin Mobile will retain its $10 plan that offers 100MB of data for 10 days. It appears that the carrier will ax its $20 300MB plan and its $60 5GB plan, though that won’t be confirmed until the news becomes official Wednesday.
