Vishay Precision Group to Highlight Performance Differences of Major Resistor Types in Upcoming Free Webinar

By Staff Author | July 24, 2013

MALVERN, Pa. — July 24, 2013 — Vishay Precision Group, Inc. has announced that its Vishay Foil Resistors brand (VFR) and element14 will present a live webinar titled “There Is More to Resistor Precision Than Meets the Eye” on July 31. The 60-minute event, which begins at 3 p.m. GMT (10 a.m. EDT), will cover the electrical properties and stress factors of all three major resistor types: thick film, thin film, and Bulk Metal Foil.

“These resistors may look similar, and in some cases the specifications may also appear similar,” said Rod Myall, senior application engineer for Vishay Foil Resistors, who will be among the webinar presenters. “But each technology has a very different construction, resulting in major performance differences.”

The July 31 session will explore these differences by explaining the theory behind the resistor technologies and the conditions that can affect and influence resistors during their operational life, and by providing a few demonstrations of comparative resistor performance, with particular attention to temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) and power coefficient of resistance (PCR). After the presentation, attendees will be given a link through which they may watch further demonstrations.
