Want to read Andy McNab’s “Crossfire,” but don’t want to lug it everywhere you go? Soon you could be bringing it along on your cell phone.
Vodafone U.K. in association with GoSpoken is launching a new service that lets subscribers download books to their handsets. GoSpoken offers a Website dedicated to books on mobiles where users can download best-sellers either in audio-book form, or as e-books, directly to their phones.
Using high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) technology, users can download a 3-hour audio book in roughly 3 minutes.
Vodafone charges between $8.50 to $26 for each title, and purchases are added to the subscriber’s monthly bill.
