Verizon Wireless today announced a new data offering that targets users with basic phones. For $10 a month, customers will receive 75 MB of data use for tasks such as Web browsing, social networking and the downloading of apps and games.
In addition to the data allowance, the new “Value Pack” includes monthly subscriptions to Mobile Email; VZ Navigator and ringback tones. Individual ringback tones are available for $1.99 for one year.
“Basic phones aren’t so basic anymore,” noted Kristi Crum, executive director of consumer solutions for Verizon Wireless, in a statement. “Along with voice calls and text messages, customers can access the Internet, send and receive email, stay connected and much more.”
Verizon said customers can save more than $10 every month over the cost of individual subscriptions with the plan. The offer is available for a limited time. Basic phone customers with existing data packages, including the $10/75 MB per month package, or who subscribe to VZ Navigator, can move to the Value Pack at any time.
