This year’s holiday season is shaping up as the year of the free smartphone. Wirefly today joined a host of wireless dealers that will be offering free smartphones through the month of the December.

Wirefly says it will be offering such devices as the Droid Incredible, Xperia X10, Samsung Intercept and Motorola Cliq for free with a two-year contract during the month of December.

“Some stores may feature a few free smartphones during the holidays,” said Andy Zeinfeld, CEO of Simplexity, parent company of Wirefly.com, in a statement. “At Wirefly, we think giving our customers choices is just as important as offering them savings. Therefore, for the rest of this month, we promise to have over 30 brand new smartphones for free – every day.”

Wirefly offers smatphones from most U.S. carriers and recently launched a carrier neutral mobile backup service that’s available for free to anyone, even those who have not bought a phone from the company.
