Apple sought to address connectivity problems in its latest smartwatch with a software update issued this week.
The tech giant told The Wall Street Journal that “in rare cases,” the new Series 3 Apple Watch experienced difficulty connecting to public WiFi networks.
The Series 3 was billed as the first smartwatch with built-in cellular capabilities when it was introduced late last month, but the company acknowledged issues after reviewers from the WSJ and The Verge had trouble maintaining cellular connections, making calls or using the Siri digital assistant.
Other reviewers did not experience those problems and the WSJ noted that customer complaints were not widespread.
Apple told the paper that the software update addressed the issue but did not elaborate on how. The company also did not indicate what caused the initial problem or whether the patch addressed all connectivity problems in the watch.
