AT&T announced on Friday that it plans to move its corporate headquarters 275 miles to the north when it packs up the San Antonio offices for Dallas, Texas. The move will involve some 700 representatives of the company’s San-Antonio-based workforce of about 6,000.
According to AT&T, the new location will strategically situate the company for its customers, suppliers and technology partners. For instance, the move to Dallas will place AT&T’s corporate headquarters near many of its key technology suppliers such as Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Ericsson, Fujitsu, Huawei, Nokia, Nortel, RIM and Samsung.
In related news, the board of directors of AT&T Inc. declared a quarterly dividend of $0.40 a share on the company’s common shares. The quarterly dividend is payable on Aug. 1, 2008, to stockholders of record at the close of business on July 10, 2008.
