A 3,000-person survey conducted by battery manufacturer Nexergy turned up some surprising results, the company announced yesterday.
Not surprisingly, battery life and capacity are the most important factors, the company said. However, less important factors are safety, cost, size and weight, the Nexergy found.
Most respondents said battery performance can be a competitive advantage and that batteries are not though of as a commodity technology, the company said. Many also said they’re uninformed about battery chemistry and the logistics of shipping batteries.
The topic is timely given frequent consumer complaints about the life of batteries in mobile phones and numerous stories about batteries exploding.
